The PointXİ database, which has been collected from over 150 individual suppliers, including Ordnance Survey & Thomson Directories, as a joint venture between Landmark Information Group and Ordnance Survey, can assisst you with all of the above challenges and many more. The database provides essential information for users in both local and central government and the emergency services, with access to around 750 classes, containing over 3.5 million features ranging from hospitals to hotels, schools to sewage disposal facilities and pubs to pesticide production.
The PointXİ database contains the most comprehensive and up-to-date points of interest information available for Great Britain and quarterly updates are provided as standard. Addressable features have been accurately geocoded to the National Grid, with the majority being pinpointed to a precision of 1m.
The data can be purchased either nationally or by region, county or Local Authority district and can be ordered either as a whole or by group or category. It can be easily incorporated into any GIS to provide accurate visual representation of the information in the database.

Within Leicestershire PointX data has been taken for use by all of the council websites and initiatives, including providing the outlying villages and towns with online access to a multitude of local and regional information. The County Council plan to work with partners in adjacent authorities that are alrady using PointX, such as Derbyshire County Council, to provide cross-border access.
