Address Management & Geocoding
Geocoding is the process of adding a National Grid co-ordinate to a location, usually an address. A locational confidence code can also be added.
Landmark has built up considerable experience of the problems of working with address-based data and has developed a rigorous process for accurate geocoding which aims to provide co-ordinates to an accuracy of 1 metre. This means the geocoding is at individual building level unlike many geocoding processes, which relate locations only to the postcode unit.
Our geocoding process uses QuickAddress, Address-Point TM and our own Promap mapping software to clean up and improve address information and to accurately geocode it. The process includes thorough quality control procedures, including manual checking and is carried out by dedicated, trained operators.
Data can be input from spreadsheets, databases or comma separated files and the output will include the input address, cleaned up output address, geocode, address point reference (optional) and a location confidence code and can be delivered on CD, via email or FTP. The output data can be used as a standalone database or in any standard GIS software.

Data Capture & Digitisation
Digitising and scanning involve the conversion of data in analogue form, such as maps and aerial photographs, into a digital form that is directly readable by a computer. It is a pre-requisite for the implementation of any GI project or service providing the base data for analysis, integration and presentation.
Using automatic techniques and work flow management systems Landmark has successfully carried out major government digitising contracts providing GIS benefits for data as diverse as farm field parcels, wildlife areas, habitats, geology and hydrographic information.
