Historical Map Data
Digital layers of Ordnance Survey historical mapping for the whole of Great Britain, from c.1840 to c.1995
Landmark's Historical Map Data is an extensive and unique digital archive of historical maps which gives a
complete step-by-step picture of the land use changes that have taken place between the 1840s and the present
day.
The database, which was created as a joint venture with Ordnance Survey, consists of nearly 1 million maps,
including County Series mapping, at 1:10 560 and 1:2500 scales, County Series Town Plans, at 1:500, 1:528 and
1:1056 scales, and post-war National Grid mapping at 1:10 560, 1:10 000, 1:2 500 and 1:1 250 scales.
All the mapping is geo-referenced to the National Grid to provide accurate raster layers onto which modern
day mapping, aerial photography, land use changes and other datasets can be overlaid. The map data is
supplied on CD-ROM and is available in a variety of GIS formats.
